Law Enforcement

Defunding the police will do far more harm than good. We can and need to demand accountability from law enforcement and fight unions that protect bad cops. We need to allocate more funds to inner city schools and invest in improving education, mental health services, job creation, affordable housing and vocational and career training. The “defunding the police” movement is dangerous for citizens and for law enforcement. It has already resulted in sharp increases in crime rates. Disadvantaged communities will suffer more than they do now without a strong police force. People living in inner cities and dangerous areas don’t want the police force weakened because fewer police means less enforcement and more crime. We need law and order with accountability. I believe that we can support funding for the police while demanding more accountability and transparency from officers.
